Understand Content Status Values

When creating or editing a content item, it is important to distinguish between the values available from the Status drop down as it affects the content visibility by its intended audience.
There are 4 choices available from the status drop down:
  • Approved: This status is typically used for content needing to go through an approval cycle before being published. Approved content does not make the content available to its intended audience.
  • Archived: Instead of permanently deleting content from the site, this status is used when content is to be retired.
  • Draft: This status is used to denote a work in progress content item. Content tagged as draft is not visible by its intended audience.
  • Published: Only published content is visible by its intended audience.
